Greetings List Members!     Henry County Web Announcements

In this JANUARY 27, 2005 Issue:

SPECIAL EDITION:  OIL SPILL

As you may have already heard there was a significant oil spill on the Kentucky River yesterday.  Certainly, those areas of Henry County close to the river spill area are having the effects of this spill.  However, more distant areas of the county may also be effected.

We live in the Smithfield area and are not especially close to the river, but yesterday afternoon and evening even we had some problems with headaches, sick pets, and odor, due to what is carried on the wind--not just what happens to the water and immediately surrounding area.

There is a phone number where you can report and go on record regarding the oil spill effecting you.  Even if your don't have a determined interest in pursuing a claim, you should "go on record," in support of others that have experienced problems as well.

If you have "un-characteristic" headaches, nausea, petroleum odor, possibly eye irritation--or your pets or livestock manifest these--you can report this to the ESIS Claims Management (i.e. Mid-Valley Pipeline/Sunoco).  And certainly if you live close to the river and experience problems you should report/go on record.

Also please note, so there is no undue "panic", they state that there are no long term health concerns.

 The phone number:  1-800-590-3519
(I was informed that calls will be taken at least through today, Jan 27, 2005.)

Please watch for more information in next week's Henry County Local.
